Endymion, a King's son askedFather of then Gods,Zeus, for permanent youth and beauty. Zeus fulfilled his wish and put him into an everlasting sleep. The moon goddes Selene, discovered the sleeping lad and fell in love with him.
She tried to wake up Endymion with a kiss, but she never succeeded andbecause of Endymion sadness was her permanent companion.
