Cristian Cavagna - Boa Madre
Cristian Cavagna's Boa Madre is a tribute to the epoch-making style of the illustrator René Gruau, who began to revolutionise the fashion world in the 1940s with his clear, striking lines. The delicate, graceful and sometimes provocative dynamism of his elegant portraits of women thrives on sensual hints and lascivious elegance. Gruau creates sophisticated scenarios that make his style unmistakable to this day.
With Boa Madre, Cristian Cavagna takes Gruau's design and translates it into an olfactory interpretation. Cavagna places an ostrich egg in one of his protagonist's hands and a boa in the other. While the flexible waves of the snake's body symbolically represent the principle of femininity, the unifying female body incarnates the imposing and eternal elemental force of the earth. Finally, the egg holds the seed and completes an interplay that holds nothing less than the origin of all life.
The fragrance:
Hypnotic tuberose sounds nestle in the freshness of green banana leaves. Ginger and fruity pink pepper spice up this furious opening of Boa Madre and open the senses to the floral heart of the composition. Jasmine, sweet and heavy, recurring tuberose notes and delicate orange blossom mingle, surrounded by the soft powdery touch of a graceful iris to form an intense floral accord. With a powerful yet beguilingly feminine intensity, Cavagna creates the perfume equivalent of the Gruau design.
He embeds Boa Madre on seductive and soft base notes, from which noble woods flash aphrodisiac-like next to different musk components, striking leather and fine mosses. A delicate, bulbous flacon surrounds Boa Madre. Its curved lines reflect the feminine silhouette, while the golden emblem shows the snake entwining the ostrich egg next to the house's lettering and the fragrance's name. With Boa Madre, Cristian Cavagna creates a passionate image of fascinating femininity.
