Etro - Io Myself
Direct and masculine - a fragrance for men with a strong sense of self!
For men who have no problem disregarding convention and throwing caution to the winds - real free spirits. The Roman poet Ovid tells the story of the beautiful High Priestess Io, who was intensely desired by Zeus. To impress her, the chief of all the gods of Olympus rose up on a golden cloud, intent on seduction. This golden cloud sent out a stream of fragrant citrus and herbal aromas meant to embody all the glories of Magna Graecia...
How it smells
The opening unfolds as a bouquet of dry and hespiridic notes: papyrus, citrus, bergamot, and mandarin. Then, buffeted on either side by an aromatic, fragrant saffron, a deep Turkish rose blooms slowly, carrying the scent away from its citrusy, herbal beginning and towards a heady orientalism. Spices and the intense aroma of cedar wood form a seamless bridge to the basenotes, unmasking as they do a hint of animalic musk and amber. Leathery, smoky resins - labdanum and styrax - merge with a touch of cinnamon and a dab of smoky-sweet oud to round off this amazing scent.
