It is precisely on this point that many sober scientists and faithful theologians seem to be unusually unanimous. Somewhat new, however, is that “creatio ex nihilo” or “creation out of nothing” is also a concept in perfumery. A little more precisely: at a Parisian perfume label. Its name: Ex Nihilo.

The company was founded in 2013 by a young trio in Paris with a great passion for creating something new and for breaking new ground.

As if "out of nothing" ...

... the perfumes of the Parisian fragrance house are created. Fascinating fragrances are created there, which, free from any restriction, arise from the creative fantasies of Ex Nihilo.

With a carte blanche, i.e. a creative blank power of attorney, the company's founding trio (Sylvie Loday, Olivier Royère and Benoît Verdier) gives the perfumers who work for them the greatest possible creative freedom.

With this method, the creative perfume designers - unlike at most other firms in the industry - have a completely free hand to create something really extraordinary: perfume masterpieces of a new generation.

The only constants in the creative process, which is above all sets of rules, are the consistent use of select raw materials and absolute trust in the competence of the creative minds.

Equipped with this concept and unlimited olfactory means, twelve perfumers - among them Quentin Bisch (Fleur Narcotique, Fleur Narcotique Blossom, Fleur Narcotique Rose de Mai et al.), Jordi Fernández (Brompton Immortals, The Hedonist et al.) and Olivier Pescheux (Oud et al.) create breathtaking fragrance creations whose content and unique flair run like a fine silver lining through the Ex Nihilo collections.

The eau de parfum

At Ex Nihilo only the best raw materials go into the perfume - regardless of the cost. There are many highlights; iconic, for example, is the perfume Fleur Narcotique with its “narcotic” overdose of floral notes and its sequels Fleur Narcotique Blossom and Fleur Narcotique Rose de Mai, launched in 2021.

The DNA of the house

Given all the creative freedom for the perfume virtuosos, there is still something like a typical “DNA” of the Parisian perfume manufacturer. This is also reflected in their perfume: characteristic of the unisex perfume creations is the immediate “addiction factor”, paired with sometimes surprising twists and turns, a sensitive sensuality and a long-lasting sillage.

The headquarters and flagship store at number 352 on Rue Saint-Honoré in the heart of Paris is characterized by selected design and dominated by Vibrant Blue, the house's signature blue. An artfully created oasis of fragrant aesthetics is presented here.

An osmologue, also developed by Ex Nihilo, weighs and blends with the highest precision (in a reduced version also in other selected stores) perfumes made from individual ingredients at the customer's request. In addition to the classic Ex Nihilo creations, you can also create your own, tailor-made perfume.
