Loewe

Luxury leather goods is the keyword for the Spanish manufacturer Loewe. The house has a long history. In the year of its foundation in 1846, two weddings caused a great deal of excitement all over Madrid. One wedding couple was Queen Isabella II of Spain and her cousin, Francis of Assisi, the other wedding couple was Isabella's sister Luisa Fernanda and Antoine Duke of Montpensier. During this turbulent time, many Spanish craftsmen started up leather-working companies and in 1872 the German leather expert Enrique Roessberg Loewe came to Madrid. High quality, precision, aggressive advertising and a business in the city center of Madrid meant that within twenty years Loewe had made a name for itself within the leather community.

In 1905 the company was awarded the title of purveyor to the Spanish Crown, which certainly was not an obstacle to the ongoing success, which continued under the new head of the company Enrique Loewe Knappe.

1945 the designer Pérez de Rozas began creating bags from box calf, which quickly became a classic and distinctive mark of the brand. The international breakthrough inevitably came and Loewe opened in the 1960s a boutique in London. Another followed in Japan in the '70s, the decade that was dominated by Loewe's fashion: famous designers such as Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani and Laura Biagiotti helped Loewe with their fashion designs to achieve world fame.

And, when one is so successful in the world of women's fashion, the next natural step is to add the finishing touch with a collection of fragrances. In 1972, Loewe's first fragrance for women known simply as "L" hit the market and in the mid-80s the scent "Air Loewe," followed, which even to this day enjoys great popularity. Since 2000, the perfume collection has been continually expanding, such as 2009 with fragrances such "I Loewe You."
