Pierre Guillaume Paris - PG23.1 - Jasmagonda
Just in time for autumn, let's take a look at 23.1 Jasmagonda, the latest addition to Parfumerie Generale's "Collection Rework" series, for which the brand's 2008's Drama Nuuï was taken as the starting point. Jasmagonda, the brand tells us, is Pierre Guillaume's take on a green canopy of jasmine vines as seen from above - from the air. Thus, the sultry jasmine and woods of the original Drama Nuuï are dressed up fresh, green notes that give the scent an airy, ozonic feel.
Pierre Guillaume is passionate about natural green notes; after having given us the fantastic Komorebi 9.1, which guided us through a sun-drenched forest, now he wants us to take a ride with him over the forest, looking down at the dense canopy of green vines from above. Thus we have the juxtaposition of a wild, sultry white flower (Indian jasmine) grounded by earthy tonka and resinous cedarwood at the base, and lifted by bergamot, crunchy green apple, and faintly aquatic notes like magnolia at the top, for a result that is both airborne and headily sexy.
Jasmagonda leaves a sensual, powdery tonka trail in the air for hours after you've applied it, its fresh notes and earthy Indian jasmine pulsing steadily beneath. Wear for an exotic, sensual, head-turning experience that is nonetheless green and fresh enough to prevent you from feeling like you're wearing a fur coat on a warm day.
