Pierre Guillaume Paris - Corps et Âmes
Family: modern chypre, dry woods, floral, spicy
This is a dry, spicy leather chypre built around a huge geranium note, which smells alternatively green, rosy, and spicy. Beautifully rugged, like worn leather, this is a chypre for chypre fans who are comfortable with twists on the classic form. The darker elements are backlit by a sunny, sweet immortelle note that introduces a shot of sun-warmed hay, maple syrup, and savoury spice.
WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE
Corps et Ames (Body and Soul) is a perfume to nourish the active, outdoorsy type in all of us - but also to comfort our tender souls. It is a vigorous green chypre whose austerity is lifted by the mysterious, multi-faceted scent of immortelle, a hardy plant native to Corsica with an astonishing range of notes that oscillates between spicy and herbaceous, fruity and honeyed, and sweet and salty.
In Corps et Ames, there is also an interestingly masculine treatment of jasmine, traditionally an opulent white floral note used in women's perfumes. The fragrance deftly combines the creamy facets of noble Melati-wood with the delicate tones of sandalwood and leather, and finishes as a dusty, comfortable chypre fragrance that recalls wood-paneled libraries and the pleasure of a hot fire after a wild, wet walk in the woods.
