Although osmanthus is native to the Himalayas, it is a plant that holds a special significance to all people in China. There is a small picturesque town in the region of Guangxi Zhuang, on the western shore of the beautiful Lijiang River, Li, known for its "dragon's teeth" - mountains covered from tip to toe with thick forests of osmanthus blooms. Between October and November, these magnificent trees burst into full bloom and fill the entire valley with the intoxicating, sweet smell of osmanthus blossom.
Osmanthus permeates every inch of Absolue d'Osmanthe just as surely as those forests permeate the valleys with the scent of osmanthus. Its heart of jasmine and sandalwood emphasizes the floral-woody aspect of osmanthus, and the smoky resins its latent sensuality.
