Montaigne wurde bereits im Jahre 1982 für die damals eröffnete Caron-Boutique an der Avenue Montaigne in Paris kreiert. Die Inspiration des Duftes liegt fest verankert an diesem Ort, an dem sich täglich Eleganz, Raffinesse und Verführung treffen.
Montaigne verleiht der Trägerin eine sinnliche, bewegende und zugleich verführerische Ausstrahlung, welcher kein Mann widerstehen kann.
