Shiso ist der japanische Name für Perilla, eine aromatische Pflanze, die seit der Antike in Asien und seit dem 3. Jahrhundert in Japan angebaut wird. Der Duft der Shiso-Essenz ist kraftvoll und komplex: grüne und pudrige Noten, die an Mimosen erinnern, gekreuzt von einer würzigen Welle, die an Zimt erinnert, in einem Hauch von mentholhaltiger Frische.
Dem Wort Shiso wird der Buchstabe "O" vorangestellt, weil sein Klang an "eau" (Wasser) erinnert, weil es der erste Buchstabe des Wortes "ode" ist und weil seine Form an eine Flocke erinnert.
