1907 - Beneath the Surface - Mon âme

Mon Âme (meaning ?my soul') is a refined woody-floral iris composition that revolves around the divine scent of orris root, with a particular focus on exploring its silvery, earthy, and mineral facets.

The Fragrance

The scent opens with a dark, spicy jasmine note that bathes the topnotes in a temporary purple light, before revealing a burst of bright yellow energy from aromatic tangerine, bergamot, and the herbal bitterness of davana. At the heart of the fragrance, a pure, powdery iris root note reigns supreme, a serene presence that nonetheless keeps all the other notes in check. The iris here is mineral and earthy, rooty almost; it sends a chilly shiver down the spine of the scent. The cold iris note is soon joined by a woody violet note, which, along with the jasmine, establishes the colour mood of the scent as a cool, velvety grey-violet-lilac. The froideur of the violet-iris axis is alleviated by the warming presence of a sweet, red rose and a delicately green lily of the valley, both of which bring a fresh fruitiness to the scent but also a lovely, soft buttery texture. The florals fold gently, over time, into a warm, woody base made creamy with tonka, silky white musks, and Indian sandalwood. The two scents 'Mon Âme ' and ' Geneviève' come in beautiful, delicate glass flacons of 50ml, each hand-blown by local artisans in 1907's native Slovakia. No big perfumer names or labels here - just beautifully made fragrance composed in a classical manner, and presented with timeless style and elegance. The embossed logo is a fleur de lis rendered in pure decorative gold filigree.
