Carthusia - Carthusia Lady -Eaude Parfum
The setting for our Lady is the island of Capri, between 1919 and 1920...
Once a refuge for intellectuals, aesthetes, musicians and an international colony of lesbians and homosexuals, the island of Capri was the haunt of eccentrics and smart sophisticates who owned houses looking out over the cliffs of the island where Emperor Tiberius once lived. The artist-intellectual who commissioned Carthusia to produce Carthusia Lady perfume expressly asked that it should reflect the harmonies and contrasts of an important period for Capri, and have an inimitable, seductive allure. A noble, aristocratic, eccentric perfume to dedicate to an equally whimsical, dark noble lady of that period. We do not know who such a bold bouquet was intended for, but the waft of Carthusia Lady scent certainly evokes impressions of a period now past, redolent with the first hints of the avant-garde and the new cultural directions that were to appear in the following years. The allure of noble women who could cross the piazza accompanied by a blue peacock and leopards on a leash, escorted by statuesque black manservants, are not the evocative images of a surreal film-set of the next millennium but iconic glimpses of a period which genuinely inspired patrons, artists and writers on the island of Capri at that time.
