Boadicea the Victorious Andraste
Andraste is the Celtic warrior goddess whom Queen Boadicea invoked before facing the Roman legions. The British house honours her with a rose fit for a warrior: sensual and steely at once. Its inspiration is a secluded walled garden where the sun travels from wall to wall, dragonflies hover over still water and the air hangs heavy with pollen and honey – a rose with metallic thorns and a hint of storm.
The Fragrance:
Bergamot and lemon open alongside cooling eucalyptus, resinous elemi, thyme and golden saffron, laced with the smoky glow of Lapsang Souchong tea. At the heart, a lavish bouquet of Lady Emma Hamilton rose, jasmine, honeysuckle and wisteria unfolds, dusted with earthy orris. The base anchors it all in supple leather, ambrette seed and musk, carried by guaiacwood, oakwood, vetiver and incense – a floral of grace and power with the presence and longevity Boadicea the Victorious is renowned for.
