Escentric Molecules - Molecule 04
For Molecule 04, scientist-cum-perfumer Geza Schön decided to focus on a single aromachemical: Javanol, the powerful yet soft sandalwood synthetic produced by Givaudan in 2001. Javanol is a wonderful sandalwood material, giving fragrances in which it is used a soft, milky, somewhat sweet tonality but none of the harsh aridity of real sandalwood. In a way, it is sandalwood, perfected. There is also a silvery freshness to Javanol, a little explored facet until now. "What I love about this fragrance is its almost psychedelic freshness", explains perfumer Geza Schön of his new olfactory coup, before going on to describe Molecule 04 as a "liquid, metallic shell of grapefruit, laid over a bed of velvety, cream-colored roses."
The packaging and design for Molecule 04 follows the same design laid out for the other Escentric Molecules 01, 02 and 03, and are produced as always by the Londoner Me Company. The shimmering gold and brown tones on the bottle and packaging reflect the warmth of the Javanol, the pink and orange shades the freshness of the overall effect. The interplay between digital and organic elements on the packaging and bottle reflects the interplay between art and chemistry that is the manifesto and starting point for all work done by Escentric Molecules.
