Nectar Olfactif - Melipona
Melipona by Nectar Olfactif is a fragrance inspired by the origin of vanilla from Mexico, where the Aztecs used it to sweeten the bitterness of chocolate. Numerous attempts in Europe to cultivate vanilla pods outside of their native habitat failed. Even Louis XIV fell in love with vanilla and wanted to cultivate it on the island of Bourbon, in Réunion. However, all attempts during his reign failed. No one knew how to pollinate vanilla outside of its original area. The Europeans were unaware that the Mexican Melipona bee was responsible for pollination. Thanks to it, the orchid produces a green, long fruit commonly known as a vanilla pod. Melipona is a gourmand and suave fragrance that elegantly opens with woody and vanilla notes, and then transitions to oriental and ambery notes.
