Parfums MDCI - Painters and Perfumers - L'homme aux gants
Exquisite. Enveloping. Rare.
L'Homme Aux Gants, developed by perfumer Nathalie Feisthauer and inspired by Titian's Man with a Glove, is "...a nuanced, sophisticated blend of oudh, spice, and woods designed for a gentleman who knows he's defined by more than the clothes he wears" (Note from the brand).
L'Homme Aux Gants opens with the sweet, musty smell of nutmeg, a spice that seems to represent all the earthy brown tones in existence joined with irresistible sweetness. Its rich, leathery heart takes inspiration from the painting's young man and how he is dressed - opulently, in a coat with fur trim, a gold ring on the right index finger, and a sapphire necklace with pearl. Thus the scent gathers itself into a rich medley of precious woods, captivating balsamic resins and smoky chords, which melt into the enveloping aroma of Madagascar vanilla and the honeyed hay creaminess of tonka bean. The base is warm and rugged, with a powerful but smooth oud note that mingles with the resins, smoky woods, vanilla, and earthy patchouli to create an impression of a sumptuous brocade of notes.
