Roberto Ugolini - Loafer
The loafer has long been enjoyed by both women and men: light, comfortable, and stylish all at the same time, what's not to love? Its exact origin is disputed but it's not unreasonable to assume that it shares some common historical link with both the traditional moccasin and Norwegian farmer shoes. Whatever its origin, however, the loafer truly came into its own in the 1930's when it was adopted as the footwear of choice by the Ivy League schools in America, whereupon it has never fallen out of fashion since. In America, there is even a variant called the Penny Loafer, which comes with a transverse slot over the shaft specifically designed to hold a ‘lucky penny'!
Loafer, the scent, is as firmly unisex as its namesake. It has a clean, classic feel that both men and women will appreciate. Opening with a tangy orange and clove tandem, the heart develops into an aromatic mixture of ylang, geranium, nutmeg, and ambergris, creating a slightly salty, fresh floral heart that feels bracing rather than sultry or sweet. Earthy patchouli in the base gives the scent a classic chypre-like finish, cementing the scent as firmly unisex. Sexy in a casual, breezy way, Loafer is all class and no flash, and we love it.
