Distinctive fragrance meets distinctive music! Xerjoff's dedication to combining art and perfume into a strongly associative, multi-faceted overall picture finds perfect expression in Toni Iommi Monkey Special. In collaboration with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, the sophisticated fusion of fragrance creation and music is formed. Powerful guitar riffs punctuate the encounter between fragrance artist Sergio Momo and the legendary musician, culminating in a blended scent that unites sensory and cultural impressions in a rhythmic melange. Momo and Iommi create interdisciplinary art in the spirit of Xerjoff, publishing an olfactory and a musical creation at the same time, whose synchronously intertwined emergence developed into a single great creative process. This excursion into each other's field of expertise allows Iommi to explore his affinity for scents and personalise it in a complex mesh - at the same time, Iommi offers his friend and passionate musician Momo the opportunity to participate in the creation of the single Scent of Dark, right down to the naming and the joint video shoot. With Tony Iommi Monkey Special, Xerjoff showcases the fascinating coming together of two free spirits and creative talents who willingly venture into new territory to create great things together!
The Scent:
Sergio Momo and Tony Iommi met through a mutual friend. Iommi, who already began to be enthusiastic about fragrances from all over the world while touring with Black Sabbath, and Momo, whose artistic interests include music as well as perfumery, decided to embark on an artistic journey together. With Tony Iommi Monkey Special, both artists present a highly complex fragrance whose facets pick up on the characteristic dark timbre of Iommi's original '64 Monkey Special' guitar. Familiar sounds combine to create a furious rhythm, peppered with rebellious echoes and finely honed edges. A first impression plays with rum-soaked fruity notes, ticklingly combining citrusy bergamot with passion fruit and geranium, leading to a central sound that unfolds rich, warm and obscure. Gentle cinnamon mist over classic patchouli and a tart hint of leather conjure up an energetic association supported by a mild-toned yet powerfully framing base. Creamy-sweet sandalwood, caramel, vanilla and cistus wrap themselves around the senses. Accompanied by a seductive musky sound, Toni Iommi Monkey Special becomes Momos and Iommis Scent of Dark. Their fragrance is encased in Xerjoff's iconic bottle, which echoes the creation's aesthetic in its shape and colour.
