A rare and sought-after medicinal plant grows in the lofty heights of the Himalayan mountains: the Indian spikenard (also known as Nardostachys jatamansi). The nard is already mentioned in the Bible - Mary, the sister of Martha of Bethany, once anointed Jesus Christ's feet with nard oil.

The use of nard for the production of healing oils and ointments has been documented from ancient times through the early Middle Ages to modern times. In traditional Indian Ayurvedic medicine, it is used primarily as a sedative - but nard is also used as fragrant incense.

The fragrance
Under the sign of the mighty lion, whose gilded face on the flacon watches over the precious perfume nectar inside, the fragrant spirits of galbanum, pink pepper and heavenly incense unfold. The mysterious Indian nard (Jatamansi) grows and thrives in the heart of the fragrance, surrounded by Virginia cedar and saffron - on a noble base of patchouli and sandalwood.
