Beaufort London Force Majeure Sunken Tobacco
A bundle of fermented, honeyed tobacco leaves, sealed in a wooden box and left on the seabed. Decades pass, salt and tide seep into every fibre, and time shapes a character no warehouse on earth could ever create. Then you find the box – and open it. With Sunken Tobacco, perfumer Euan McCall has created a tobacco fragrance for Beaufort London's Force Majeure line that keeps all the familiar warmth of the leaf and gives it the wild poetry of the deep sea.
The Fragrance:
Star anise, cardamom and saffron open with a spicy glow, joined by cherry mead, frankincense and dark blackcurrant. At the heart, juniper, clove and powdery orris meet myrrh and juicy damson. The base sinks into tobacco absolute, seaweed and ambergris, carried by oakwood, guaiac wood, smoky birch, oakmoss, cedarwood and vetiver – deepened by labdanum, gurjun balsam and cypriol into a salty, resinous, endlessly warm finish.
