Byredo -Oud Immortel- EdP
The new Eau de Parfums, OUD IMMORTEL and ACCORD OUD are both created around Oud, a certain type of wood that because of its use in traditional incense and perfume has gained great cultural significance and has gotten its existence recorded in one of the world'soldest oral texts - the Sanskrit Vedas from India. When the once light heartwood from the Aquilaria tree become sinfected with a specific type of mold, it defends it self by saturating it score with a dark, fragrant resin. This now dark wood, Oud or Agarwood holds a complex fragrance, resembling few or no other natural ingredients. Founder and creative director Ben Gorham explains:
"I had smelled Oud in India and the Middle East and wasamazed by its powerful and unique character. For once I wanted to focus entirely on the raw material itself and the objective was to create one fragrance to capture the characteristic of Oud. In the process i found that other ingredients highlighted different aspects of this complexwood. In the end I fell in love with two completely different versions of Oud and decided to launch them as a pair - both exaggerations of the original idea."
A woody, fragrance where patchouli and papyrus are blended to bringsmokiness. The tobacco leaves and moss ad depth and complexity while the incense and rosewood bring an elegant, amberysillage.
