Goldfield and Banks - Velvet Splendour
Golden Light. Buttery Blossom. Velvet Splendor.
"Velvet Splendor is like holding a large bunch of sunburnt wild flowers in both arms and pressing one's face gently into it. An impressionist's painting of a long drive through the open, breezy and wild countryside." - a note from the brand.
Summer in a bottle. First, an inviting burst of tangy mandarin beckons us in, smiling at us with its golden, citrusy brightness. The heart is a puff of breathy, pale-honey mimosa as natural-smelling as a springtime posy plucked straight from a tree. Kissed by the intoxicating grey suede aroma of iris and the sunshiny sweetness of orange blossom, the scent truly does feel like sticking your nose into a bouquet of wildflowers gathered from sunburnt meadows and verges along the Mediterranean coastline in May. The piquant green aroma of Australian mimosa makes this scent feel quite different from other mimosa-forward scents, however, its streak of juicy freshness lifting the sweeter florals and refreshing the palate.
The sensuously creamy basenotes of tonka bean and sandalwood give Velvet Splendor its uniquely velvety, soft texture that seems to melt into the skin like buttercream. Irresistibly lush and golden, the floral bouquet is given a luscious gourmand depth by way of a honeyed, almond pastry accent (heliotrope) that sweetens the base but does not weigh it down. We're in love with this alluring, edible, sensuously feminine potion.
