Islander is inspired by the story of a specialty from the West Indies: Bay Rum.
It was in the 16th century when sailors made a discovery in the Caribbean paradise of the Antilles: if you rub the dried leaves of the bay rum tree on your body, they release an intensely fragrant oil. For the sailors, this was a good opportunity to refresh and perfume themselves after months at sea.
Over time, the olfactory discovery became the classic Bay Rum - a distillate of rum and the leaves of the bay rum tree. The scented water, often flavored with spices, cinnamon or citrus peel, was often used as a fragrant enrichment during massages or after shaving. It gained worldwide fame through its use in the salons of New York barbers, but also at royal courts in Europe.
The fragrance
Islander is a fragrance that exudes the spirit of the Caribbean with every breath. First of all, the Eau de Parfum offers a cocktail of lime, Bayrum tree leaves and the finest Martinique rum. The heart note refines the wonderful Bay Rum impression with cardamom from Guatemala and vetiver from Haiti - while the base note is a blend of Caribbean Gaia wood, Atlas cedar and Cuban tobacco.
