Bogue Profumo - MEM
Bogue MEM is an incredibly complex, difficult to describe fragrance...but we know of one word that could be used without hesitation: masterpiece. Based around a whopping 5 different species of lavender, you'd think you have an idea of how this scent smells, but you'd be wrong. MEM does not smell very much of lavender, but instead of a strange alchemy that turns the familiar into the unfamiliar. A mass of oily florals - rose, ylang, and jasmine chief among them - drives the lavender into a glass of fizzy pale ale, transforming it into something both effervescent and heady.
Resins and herbs are massaged by a bourbon, turning it into a fruity, jammy note that lends a vintage peach chypre vibe. The malty sourness of the booze and the smoky depth of the rare Himalayan cedarwood cut right through the density of the compacted fruits, herbs, and flowers, lifting it up and infusing it with air. Excitingly unfamiliar and unsettling, MEM is a scent that will win awards - mark our words. But it is also an utter pleasure to wear, shifting from one stage to the next over the course of a day, ending in a beautifully sturdy animalic base stuffed with furry musks, real ambergris, and tarry (leathery) castoreum.
