Perris Monte Carlo - Gold Collection - Bois d'Oud
Oud, a precious oil obtained from the dark resin of an infected Aquilaria tree, carries with it enormous power, volume, and intensity. In the East, the wood itself has long been prized for its fragrant, smoky aura that cleanses and scents clothes, rooms, and places of worship. Pure oud oil also has an enormously virile, heady aroma that is often valued for its sensual, erotic properties - in many places, oud is considered to be an aphrodisiac!
This dark and intensely fragrant elixir long valued in Arab perfumery is often paired with equally opulent, rich, dark, or indulgent aromas such as sandalwood, amber, musk, and roses. In Bois d'Oud, however, the perfumer has chosen to pair the dark, nutty aroma of oud oil with sparkling, fresh fruit aromas popular in French classical perfumery, thus supplying the wearer first with olfactory surprise, and then delight.
A fresh and lively bergamot in the top note leads to a succulent, juicy fruit heart full of sweet peaches and plums, ripe and glowing with late afternoon sunshine. These autumnal fruit accords are supported by a chorus of delicate white flowers such as jasmine, rose, and orange blossom, and given a silvery, cool sheen by a note of orris powder. The base is dark and oud-like, with the sultry aroma of charred cedar, black woods, patchouli, amber, labdanum, and musk forming a curlicue of smoke that reaches up to darken the fruit and flowers. A touch of creamy vanilla lightens the heft of the smoky oriental base, and adds a slight gourmand touch.
