Ylang Ylang the word comes from a Filipino dialect and means the "flower of flowers", which is an appropriate name for this most fleshy and full-smelling of flowers. It flowers year round and has a heavily fragrant aroma that approaches bananas, cream, custard, vanilla, and tropical fruit. On the island of Nosy Be, there is a famous ylang ylang plantation that produces flowers with a particularly intense aroma and a top notch quality. Only the most mature of these blooms were used for Ylang Ylang Nosy Be, producing a thick, almost fertile smell that makes you think of flowers copulating in the air all around you. It is an intensely beautiful perfume that transcends its genre by producing powerful emotions in those who wear it.
The fragrance opens with exotic spices and citrus warming and brightening the yellow creaminess of the ylang. In the heart, the sumptuous and buttery character of the bloom is intensified even further through the addition of indolic white flowers such as jasmine and orange blossom, as well as a subtle pink rose. The base is deeply, creamily oriental, tipping the entire basin of creamy flowers into a spcied amber base that glitters and smokes with resins, woods, and vanilla. A true masterpiece.
