Musk is a word that derives from the ancient language of the Brahmins, namely Sanskrit, meaning "love secretion of the antelope". According to legend, its mythological status as a valued ingredient in perfumery dates back to the Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon! Josephine was a passionate perfume lover and used it in many ways as part of her daily life. In particular, she liked to use musk scents to seduce and keep the sexual interest of her husband, thus ensuring his devotion to her.
Empress Josephine was so excited by the scent of the musk that a group of young nobles in her court even formed a secret appreciation society called "Les Muscadins".
This scent owes its roots to that time, of course, but also to 1928, when the original formula for this perfume was first created, consisting of bergamot, iris absolute, vanilla absolute, rose absolute, civet, and musk. Musk Extreme is an update on the original musk, adding a generous dose of expensive musk molecules to double its richness, strength, and opulence. The Extreme version is also warmer, and more sensual.
