Rundholz Parfums - 12th of Oct. 1492
It's the beginning of October in the year of our Lord 1492. For nine weeks the three sailing ships Santa Maria, Pinta and Niña have been sailing the Atlantic - looking for a western sea route to India. Nine weeks at sea with not a hint of land on the horizon. Supplies are running low, the crew is restless and there is a risk of mutiny. Even the commander of the daring ship expedition, Admiral Christopher Columbus, is thinking about turning back.
On October 7th, however, the precarious situation on board takes an unexpected turn: the crew spotted huge flocks of birds in the sky. Admiral Columbus then changes the ship's course to follow the flight of the birds. On the evening of October 11, he thinks he sees a flickering light in the distance. A few hours later, in the early morning of October 12, the sailor Rodrigo de Triana announces the long-awaited, liberating message: "Land in sight!".
The ship's bell rings; enthusiastic cheers break out among the sailors. A little later Columbus will write in the ship's diary: "At two o'clock in the morning the land came into sight. We waited until daybreak, which was a Friday, when we came to an island." What he doesn't know at this point: the island in question is part of a previously unknown continent. He has just - discovered America.
The fragrance
12th of Oct. 1492 is a noble blend of rich and precious ingredients. The head note of the fragrance is characterized by exuberant richness: plump, juicy, sun-ripened fruits such as mango, peach, apple, plum, bergamot and blackcurrant, surrounded by a hint of exotic spices.
A garden full of graceful, delicate flowers blooms in the floral heart of the perfume: a fragrant sea of blossoms of jasmine, iris and lily of the valley.
The extraordinary base note is particulalry striking. The dry-down is characterized by the delicious aroma of a sugared vanilla pod, creamy, warm musk, precious woods and smoky leather - accompanied by a mystical hint of incense, the signature note of all Rundholz perfumes.
