Often cited as one of the best and most evolved gourmands, or semi-gourmands, in the world, Aomassaï is a complex herbal, woody gourmand fragrance that features notes such as spices, wood resin, hazelnut, caramel, vetiver, incense, licorice, bitter orange, resins, hay and woody notes. It was inspired by the Baoule tribe in Southern Africa.
WHAT IT SMELLS LIKE
Aomassaï is the scent of things approaching burning point - soft licorice, smoking caramel in a pan, toasted hazelnuts left in the oven a hair too long, burning sugar....a delight and a sweet torture to the senses, especially if you are hungry. The burning sugar aromas, the boozy orange, the thick caramel, the mouth-watering hazelnut - they might all prove far too gourmand were it not for the resinous, woody base the gourmand notes are anchored to. Smoky vetiver, dried hay and African grasses, ebony woods, and spices provide a darkly resinous, almost bitter woody backbone to the scent that cleverly balances out all of the sweet notes.
