Beaufort London - Acrasia
An epic, allegorical poem from the 16th century was the inspiration for this composition by perfumer Julie Dunkley.
Acrasia is a character from 'The Faerie Queene' - an English epic poem by Edmund Spenser from 1590. She is a sorceress who lives on her own island - in a wondrous garden full of pleasures called the Bower of Bliss. But appearances are deceptive - in that paradise garden there are numerous men who have been seduced, bewitched and transformed into beasts by Acrasia. A myth that is reminiscent of the sorceress Circe from Homer's Odyssey...
The fragrance
Needless to say, "seduction" is the main theme of this perfume. But also the ambivalence of appearance and reality, loosely based on the motto: "A rose is a rose is not a rose". Things are not always as they appear at first glance - as Acrasia's Bower of Bliss teaches us.
Succulent wine grapes, Sicilian lemons and bergamot grow in the magic garden of this perfume. At the heart of the fragrance, Acrasia entices with the scent of sumptuous flowers: roses, geraniums and jasmine blossoms. She seduces with enveloping notes of cinnamon and incense - and finally drives us out of our mind with aromas of amber, vanilla, musk, patchouli, vetiver and cedar.
A haunting, powerful magic elixir with a seductive power that should not be underestimated.
