Hellenist Paris is the world’s first niche perfumery dedicated exclusively to the olfactory interpretation of Greek mythology. Founded in 2024 by Jean-David Jacoby, a passionate Hellenist who has cultivated his enduring love for Greece since a childhood visit to Santorini, the brand positions itself as a bridge between ancient mythology and contemporary perfumery.
The name carries profound meaning: in antiquity, “Hellenist” referred to someone who adopted Greek culture without being of Greek descent. The brand’s vision: “Greece is a temple, Hellenist the temple of memories.” Each fragrance brings to life the stories of gods, heroes, and myths through high perfumery – from Le Chant d’Achille, capturing the intensity of the Trojan warrior, to À l’Ombre d’Artémis, evoking the free spirit of the hunting goddess.
What sets Hellenist apart:
Hellenist follows the philosophy of “Slow Luxury” and deliberately collaborates with different perfumers – Alexandra Carlin, Suzy Le Helley, Pierre Guéros, and Maurice Roucel. For each mythological narrative, the perfumer whose personality best matches the story is selected. This curatorial excellence creates a diverse collection under a shared aesthetic voice.
The brand is 100% Made in France and uses ingredients exclusively from the Mediterranean basin – from Greece, France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy. This authentically Mediterranean approach is visually reinforced through collaboration with neo-cubist artist Carlo Amen, whose fragmented faces and lines evoke Mediterranean civilizations.
Hellenist follows the principle of “stopping just before the emotion” – the brand doesn’t maximize feelings but lets mythological scenes quietly circulate through the senses. Les Bras de Morphée, recognized as a finalist at the FIFI Awards France 2025, perfectly embodies this philosophy: an enveloping fragrance hovering between wakefulness and dreams.
