Beaufort London - Fathom V
Inspired by the dangerously magnetic currents of the oceans whipped up by Ariel under the orders of Prospero in Shakespeare's play The Tempest, Fathom V is itself a stormy fragrance that invokes the terrifying magnificence of nature at its wildest. The force of nature is what draws Prospero's enemies to the desolate island, and strands them there.
Fathom V is a demanding aquatic fougere. But it is also intensely green, with a dark, soil-like undercurrent that injects the composition with gloom and foreboding. The bright tangerine topnotes are a brief moment of sunshine before we are plunged into turmoil with aromatic mosses, soil, earth, herbs and spices. There is a moment of calm at the eye of the Tempest, though, when a heart of creamy ylang, lily, and jasmine unfolds a gentle floralcy. But the rugged masculinity of the scent reasserts itself in the base, with stormy accord of salt, sea, forest, cedar, and marsh.
Fathom V is a seductive and dark force of nature that draws you in despite yourself.
