Xerjoff - V -Ouverture
Although the room is packed with hundreds of people, not a single sound is to be heard, not even a cough. The golden chandelier casts a dim but warm light that lights up the dove-grey walled room with a pearlescent glow. An expectant tension, focused on the stage, begins to fill the room. The ouverture is about to begin. And thus Ouverture by Sospiro begins - a curtain drawn slowly up on a bouquet of delicate white flowers and Mediterranean fruits all wrapped up in fragrant fig leaves. There follows an elegant duet of flower petals and cinnamon, their voices intertwining and then pulling apart again, like a spiral of music twisting its way up to the heavens. In the final act, before the curtain falls again, creamy, unctuous sandalwood faces off against fuzzy cashmere notes, amber, vanilla and incense to bring upon the stage the legendary magic of the Orient.
